The Wastes

The Wastes // Field Record 07-A

Surface temperature remains constant. No shadow drift despite solar rotation. The terrain folds slightly when stepped on — not soft, not solid. Collected particulate samples: calcified marrow granules.

Discovered an unusual, colossal wall structure spanning horizon line. Embedded across surface: organic cysts, translucent — contents appear fetal. Sub-aural vibration detected through boots. Not wind. Not seismic. The ground may remember movement. End of note: faint resonance — may have spoken my designation.

The Dretches

The Dretches // Recovery Log 12-C

Depth unmeasured. Air density elevated, iron-rich, humid with pulse heat. Rhythmic pressure waves — approximate to heartbeat cadence. Infrastructure appears self-maintaining; machinery fused with biomatter. Function unclear — output resembles flesh extrusion.

From observation ridge: enormous facility visible across basin, exhaling steam and ash. Mechanical in rhythm, organic in texture — factory anatomy. I did not approach.

The Barrens

The Barrens // Fragment D

Composition: vitrified basalt threaded with frozen channels of unknown origin. Ambient sound absent. Temperature below projection. Discovered depression locals call the Crater.

Internal descent aborted. Detected rhythmic intake below surface — volume increase consistent with breathing through stone. I withdrew before confirmation. Rumors persist of an elder presence beneath these plains. Credibility uncertain, though certain locations emit murmuring and low vibration through the ground.

The Kingdom

The Kingdom // Archive 22

Observed from ridge elevation; visual confirmation through optical enhancement. City layout renovates itself over time — streets shift, walls reorient, structures merge or divide without collapse. Geometry behaves as if in perpetual redesign, guided by no visible agency. Materials remain consistent: bone, stone, alloy, flesh.

Hostile entities patrol perimeter in synchronized routes, ignoring each other but responding to sound. From distance, the settlement retains semblance of order — elegant, deliberate, almost proud. On horizon: a vast spire formation, half architecture, half anatomy. Suggests continuing effort to rebuild something long forgotten.

The Dead Sun

The Dead Sun // Sky Log

Direct observation unsafe beyond nine seconds. Causes progressive memory displacement — not amnesia, reallocation. Subjects forget identity but retain purpose.

Light spectrum non-solar. Emits pressure rather than warmth. During flare events, belief collapses in measurable radius. Recommendation: do not look up.
