Rebirth

Death is the result of failing your death saves. If that happens, and you still have enough Memory, you may bargain with your identity for another chance at surviving.

Core Summary

When you die, you may undergo rebirth by spending 25% Memory. You reappear in an unknown place, pulled back into the world diminished but alive.

What Rebirth Is

  • Rebirth is how you return after death.
  • It costs 25% Memory.
  • If you do not have enough Memory, you cannot come back.

What It Does

  • You are resurrected.
  • Your HP is fully restored.
  • Your death and bleedout state is cleared.

What You Return With

  • Vitality resets to 45.
  • Integrity resets to 45.
  • Sanity resets to 45.
Permadeath exists: if you die without enough Memory to rebirth, that death is final.

In Practice

Rebirth is simple. You die, you pay the cost, and you are pulled back in a damaged state. Not safe. Not fresh. Just alive.

You appear slick in an unknown place, either lost to the world or barely clinging on, having traded part of yourself for another chance to keep going.

For the meaning and long-term consequences of that cost, see Memory.
